Microneedling / Mesotherapy

Micro-needling, also known as collagen induction therapy, involves making numerous tiny punctures on the outer layer of the skin using extremely fine needles. These tiny wounds are called micro-injuries, and they trigger the body’s natural healing mechanisms to kick in.

Micro-needling therapy is a safe and efficient option for individuals as it does not involve invasive procedures, minimizes skin damage, and avoids light-based treatments. Long-term negative effects from micro-needling therapy are unlikely to occur due to these factors. Age or skin colour generally does not affect its effectiveness. Moreover, micro-needling devices like Dermapen allow precise control over penetration depth in areas with thin skin for consistent results.

Why Micro-Needling?

Microneedling and Fraxel laser treatments yield comparable outcomes. Both procedures induce skin trauma in the upper dermis layer, triggering the body’s natural healing response. However, these methods employ distinct approaches to create the desired trauma and subsequently prompt dissimilar healing processes in the skin.
Laser procedures and microneedling both promote the growth of collagen. However, lasers result in the formation of linear collagen that resembles scars, while microneedling creates a basket weave pattern that closely matches the texture of your skin. As a result, microneedling provides a more natural and seamless look for your skin. Additionally, this treatment preserves the outermost layer of your skin (epidermis), which leads to shorter recovery times and less downtime for patients.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Eclipse Micropen ©?

The Eclipse MicroPen® is designed to improve the absorption of topical gels, creams, and serums by creating tiny channels in the skin. This enhances their effectiveness in reaching deeper layers and results in a reduction of fine lines wrinkles, improved tone and texture, as well as softer and more youthful-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. Additionally, it can also help to even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of acne scars, traumatic scars, and stretch marks. The device includes a sterile cartridge with 12 micro-points used during treatment.

What areas of body I can treat?

Eclipse MicroPen® can be used on all parts of the body: face, neck, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

How is the procedure done?

The Eclipse MicroPen® is equipped with a sterile cartridge that has 12 small micro-points. Your skin-care specialist will apply sterile saline to your skin and determine the best position for the pen based on your individual requirements. Then, in one smooth motion, they will gently press the pen against your skin while smoothly moving it in a single direction until the entire treatment area is treated.

How does it feel like?

The sensation of the Eclipse MicroPen® is comparable to the gentle abrasion of sandpaper on the skin. Although certain areas may be more sensitive than others, the swift insertion speed of the treatment tip enhances overall comfort during the procedure.

How long does it take?

The procedure from numbing to end of treatment takes approximately 60 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.

Does it affect my Botox or Fillers?

To avoid an inflammatory reaction, we will not perform microneedling for at least 2 weeks post filler treatments.

When will I see results?

Patients notice an immediate “glow” & soft texture of the skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months after the last treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Some patients only require a single treatment once a year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 3 treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart. For patients with more significant skin-care concerns, such as acne scars, it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 4-week intervals.
